Resident Evil: Village is Going to Be Huge

And We’re Not Just Talking About Lady Dimitrescu

Of course, we could probably have guessed that the newest game in the hit franchise would be huge. The first mainline entry since the massively successful Resident Evil 7 is taking what worked from the reboot and transplanting it into a bigger environment. Will it be on par with, say, Resident Evil 6, which saw you exploring various countries across the planet? No, but unlike Resident Evil 6, Village has an open world to explore, meaning that it’ll be bigger in practice due to having more to explore.

So how big is the game? Well, we don’t know for sure, but according to the latest edition of the Official PlayStation Magazine UK it’ll be much bigger than the relatively short exploration of the Louisiana Bayou, as well as taking full advantage of the PS5’s hardware to virtually eliminate load times and “bathe” you in sound from every direction.

What we do have, thanks to some leaks from the collector’s edition found on Reddit, is a map of the unnamed village, and if we get to explore even half the locations listed at any significant level then it’s likely that the game will, in fact, be much larger than Resident Evil 7. The castle and its grounds alone could be an entire game – just look at the original Resident Evil – but add to that the rest of the village and its houses and we could have something special on our hands.

Also listed on the map are the Heisenberg factory (A reference to Breaking Bad, perhaps?) and the Moreau Reservoir (Undoubtedly a shout-out to the Island of Doctor Moreau).

At the moment, we don’t quite know how much of the village we’ll get to explore, but given that it’s called “Village” instead of, say, House or Castle, it’s likely we’ll get to explore a good chunk of what this quaint Romanian town has to offer.
