Horror Throwback Stay Out of The House Coming to Steam

Slasher’s Have Been Out Of the Spotlight For a While Now

Sure, we’re getting a new Scream movie next year, but everyone knows that the heyday of the genre was in the eighties, and Puppet Combo are banking on that nostalgia with the upcoming release of Stay Out of the House.

The game sees you captured by a cannibalistic serial killer, using your stealth and solving puzzles to escape with your life – and, hopefully, all your limbs intact. You have three lives to work with, and each time you die you’ll wake up in a new location within the house.

The game is a true eighties throwback, right down to the occasional visual glitches as if you were playing on an old-school CRT TV. (Remember those? They haven’t been the standard for like twenty years. Feel ancient yet?)

Compounding the retro feel are the retro graphics: the game looks like something straight off the PS1, all blocky models and low-res backgrounds. The game won’t be winning any beauty pageants, but hey, real beauty’s on the inside, right?

Well, not inside this house. Severed limbs and bloody graffiti aren’t what even the most demented interior designer would consider prime decoration materials.

There’s no release date for Stay Out of the House as of yet, but you can wishlist it on Steam, or preorder it from Puppet Combo’s official website.

If you’re curious about what you can expect with the game, the good news is that the first chapter – Night Shift, which shows how you got into this mess in the first place – is available as a free demo on Steam starting from today. Hopefully, it’ll give you something to sink your teeth into before the full game releases.
