ESRB Rates Subnautica: Below Zero for Multiple Platforms

Rated C for Cold

The frigid exploration and crafting game Subnautica: Below Zero may not be for everyone, but- actually, yes it is. The ESRB just rated the game E for Everyone. My mistake. Subnautica: Below Zero has been out on early access for just about two years now. The sequel to the super success story of 2018’s Subnautica appears to be coming out soon, or at least the developer Unknown Worlds Entertainment is almost ready to release it. That is usually an implicit sign behind an ESRB rating.

Subnautica: Below Zero

Not only is the E rating a pretty good thing for marketing, but would you check out its supported platforms? ESRB has rated it for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, and PS5. Before now, the only port of Subnautica: Below Zero that was confirmed was for Nintendo Switch. The first game came out on PS4 and Xbox One as well, so it is not a huge surprise that Below Zero would also launch on those platforms. The Series X and PS5 release is kind of interesting. We will have to see what the differences are from the last gen version, if any. Also, with more Nintendo Switch ports being Cloud Versions, we will have to see if the Switch will be taking advantage of that technology.

Unfortunately, an ESRB rating does not detail any release dates, so we will have to wait for that announcement. Subnautica spent four years in early access, but Unknown Worlds Entertainment are not as baby-faced as they were back then, so Below Zero might be closer to the finish line than the first game was at this point. Subnautica: Below Zero is available through early access on PC now, but will be coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
