Upcoming Dead Cells: Fatal Falls DLC Announced

The DLC Is Set to Release in Early 2021

Dead Cells developer, Motion Twin, has announced the second set of downloadable content for the rogue-like action game. Dead Cells: Fatal Falls is set to launch in early 2021 and has already received an awesome–albeit short, teaser trailer.

Dead Cells originally released as an early access title in 2017 and has since seen successfully launches on PC, Android, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

The game received its first bit of downloadable content earlier this year in February. Dead Cells: The Bad Seed added two new areas to explore, as well as new weapons and items to collect.

While we don’t know much about what what be included in the Fatal Falls DLC, we do have this description from the add-ons steam page:

Gain a sharp and somewhat overprotective aerial ally as you fight through two new biomes and a boss! Challenging level designs will force you to rethink your approach in this new mid game content designed to add variety to your runs and continue support for the development of the game.

The teaser does show off what appears to be the two new areas. The first one looks like some kind of sky zone and features a new trap in the form of a spinning axe? This one can also be seen in the thumbnail of the video, which also features the beheaded dual wielding scythes. If you look closely you can also see some sort of snake monster holding what appears to be a trident in the background, maybe this is the “sharp and somewhat overprotective aerial ally” they speak of in the description? One maybe it’s the new boss you’ll be tasked with overcoming–only time will tell, but due to the not so friendly look of the character and the positioning of the scene, it’s likely the latter. The second new area showcased in the teaser seems to be some sort of ship graveyard and has a very ominous, ghostly atmosphere.

You can view the full trailer below.

Dead Cells is a rogue-lite, metroidvania inspired, action-platformer. You’ll explore a sprawling, ever-changing castle… assuming you’re able to fight your way past its keepers in 2D souls-lite combat. No checkpoints. Kill, die, learn, repeat.
