Steve and Alex Join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on October 13th

Craft Victory Out of the Blocks of Defeat

There is a lot of Minecraft news lately, being the time of Minecraft Live. We have news of upcoming updates to Minecraft, Minecraft Dungeons, as well as the announcement that Steve and Alex would be coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Yesterday, SSBU director Mr. Sakurai showed an in-depth presentation of the new Minecraft characters in the game following their reveal last week. He talks about the appearance of the characters. Steve has three skins, Alex has three skins, and Enderman and Zombie each have one skin, though they all appear to be the same fighter.

Smash Bros. Ultimate Steve and Alex

Steve’s moves make him behave very similar to his Minecraft version. His basic attacks use a sword, axe, and pickaxe. Some have advantages over others, but they all have pretty short ranges. His basic jump also is significantly shorter than other characters’, but his mid air jump can reach pretty high. Just like in Minecraft, using Steve’s tools too much will cause them to break. There are other moves that do not use those tools. For instance, Steve’s grab attacks use a fishing rod. Different combinations and directional throws use fencing and pistons. Some attacks cost resources like iron and without these resources, they are significantly weaker.

Of course, it’s Minecraft, so there’s crafting. For every Steve, Alex, Enderman, or Zombie, there will be a Crafting table on the stage. Each of these characters also has a resource gauge above their icon, which shows you how much of a resource you have in your inventory based on your ratio. Players can mine using B. You get different resources from different surfaces. Your resources allow you to upgrade your tools to be more powerful. There are other moves like the Minecart, the Elytra, and TNT. You can watch the whole presentation and start formulating your strategies ahead of time. Steve, Alex, Enderman, and Zombie will be available on October 13th. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
