Awesome New Lightsaber Coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

The Force is Strong With This One

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is something of a pilgrimage for Star Wars fans, a chance to walk around the Black Spire outpost on the remote frontier planet of Batuu. You can treat yourself to a blue milk, ride aboard the Millennium Falcon, and even build your own lightsaber. Now, after a Disney blog challenge, a new lightsaber is up for grabs.

Cal Kestis’ lightsaber from the hit game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be available to purchase from Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities later in the year – the perfect holiday gift for that Jedi in your life. Of course, one of the awesome features of the game was the ability to craft your own saber using parts that you find, and even Cal’s saber changes form over the course of the game, so to clarify – it is Cal’s default saber coming to the store.

Cal’s saber has a uniquely distressed appearance, bearing the scars of trauma that Cal himself experienced in his escape from the brutal Order 66, which destroyed most of the Jedi. Cal kept his saber hidden until the events that kick off the story in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and a large part of the gameplay loop involves mastering the ancient weapon of the Jedi. Cal’s lightsaber will be lovingly recreated to full scale and added to the collection at Galaxy’s edge, which also features classic saber designs like Count Dooku’s curved saber, or Ahsoka Tano’s twin blades.

The iconic lightsaber from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order won a poll on a Disney Parks Blog post, beating out tough competition from five other legendary sabers. The results of the poll were:

  • Cal Kestis – 40.79%
  • Qui-gon Jinn – 19.56%
  • Anakin Skywalker – 12.37%
  • Lord Corvax – 11.41%
  • Kanan Jarrus – 9.85%
  • Ezra Bridger – 6.02%

There are some classic sabers in there, and it is very likely that some if not all of them will make their way into Dok-Ondar’s legendary collection at some point. Cal Kestis’ victory is a great recognition of how popular Star Wars video games have become, and its great to see our favourite hobby well represented in the galaxy far, far away….
