PS5 Release Date Possibly Leaked

But Don’t Get Your Hopes Up For an Exact Date

For a long time, Microsoft and Sony were playing a game of chicken with their upcoming consoles. The general consensus was that whoever came first would be the loser, as the other company could potentially pre-empt the release with their own console.

There’s also the issue of pricing. The PS4 released for $100 less than the Xbox One, Which helped to make it a better seller, with more than double the consoles sold. Sony also has a history of deliberately underpricing consoles, eating the added cost and banking on their releases making up the cost. The PS3 alone was almost a Trojan Horse for the Blu-Ray, successfully winning the home video market against the HD-DVD.

While we still don’t know anything about the price, if the latest leak turns out to be accurate then the PS5 will actually release after the Xbox does on November 10th

The reason I say the week of is because, well, the leak is a bit of a weird one, so get your thinking hats on.

To be clear, we don’t have anything confirmed about the console, but Amazon have recently listed a wall mount for the PlayStation 5, which is being released on… November 19th.

We do, of course, need to take that with a grain of salt. It’s not an official release date, and there’s no manufacturer listed to lend it some credence. It’s also unlikely that the console will launch on a Thursday, which would be November 19th, as opposed to a Tuesday or Friday. If there is some truth to the release date, and the manufacturer has some information that the rest of us don’t, a release date of November 17th or November 20th would be the most likely.
