Paradise Killer Announces Release Date and Switch Availability

Get Ready to Get Sleuthing

Murder mystery games usually play out in a pretty predictable fashion. Just look at the Ace Attorney series, the biggest name in the genre right now. There’s only one killer, one definitive ending to each case you need to discover. The same goes for Danganronpa- you have to uncover the truth, but there’s only one truth.

Paradise Killer does things a little differently. The open-world mystery game has you exploring the mysterious Paradise Island to discover who killed… well, Paradise. As the awesomely named Lady Love Dies, your goal is to investigate the crime, finding a suspect, and building an airtight case against them. Unlike other mystery games, however, you can build a case against any of the game’s vibrant and varied characters- from the flirty punk-rocker Doctor Doom Jazz to the goat-headed Crimson Acid. Accusing each different character will lead to a different outcome and take the story in new directions, and you’ll ultimately need to prove their guilt at trial to close the case.

The game releases on September fourth for the PC and Nintendo Switch. To celebrate the launch, Nintendo Switch are offering a 20% discount on pre-orders until September 11th, and Steam is offering a 20% launch week discount from September 4th up until September 18th. Steam players can also download a demo of the game here, so if you want a taste of the insanity before you commit why not check it out?

The game will also be making an appearance at Germany’s Gamescon, as part of the Indie Arena Booth, from August 27th until August 30th, so if you happen to be going you’ll be able to check it out there- just be sure to stay safe.

Do you think this game can compete with the sheer insanity of interrogating a parrot in Ace Attorney? Let us know down in the comments, or hit us up on Facebook or Twitter.
