Black Ops: Cold War Beta Coming to PS4 First

PlayStation Fans Will Continue to Get Call of Duty Beta Early

Just like with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War will receive an open beta on PS4 sooner than on Xbox One and PC. According to the PS4 trailer, the PlayStation beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be available “at least 5 days earlier than any other format.” While this doesn’t give gamers an idea of when to expect the open beta, Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War is still expected to release later this year. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available right now for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

While Xbox and PC fans of Call of Duty will still be able to take part in an open beta, PlayStation gamers will continue to get the earlier access, suggesting they’ll continue to receive the best Call of Duty experience moving forward. Treyarch and Raven Software are promising open beta access to those who pre-order one of many editions of the upcoming Call of Duty title.

The open beta access only applies to digital pre-orders, according to a report from Charlie Intel, and physical pre-orders will not get open beta access. The beta is expected to last a minimum of two days, so getting it five days early is a great deal for PlayStation fans.

Little is currently known about Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War multiplayer and only pieces of the campaign have been shown off during the recent trailer for the game. The next Call of Duty will have several traditional multiplayer modes, various Zombies maps, and the continuation of the free-to-play Warzone battle royale mode.
