Gearbox CEO Teasing Potential Borderlands 3 Season 2 DLC

[Raises Hand]

This is exciting news for big Borderlands fans. Earlier today, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford threw out a little tease on Twitter asking fans if they would be interested in additional content beyond what is included in the Season Pass. If you are like your ol’ pal Zane, who feverishly check the Borderlands website every hour for more news, you know that this is the eve of the fourth DLC reveal. Tomorrow, Gearbox will be officially revealing the highly anticipated Krieg add-on, so it is no coincidence that Pitchford is putting this out there.

Borderlands 3 Season 2

In his tweet, Randy Pitchford very carefully words a hypothetical scenario in which Gearbox would be open to creating more content. Many fans are encouraging this prospect, mostly asking for new characters, but I would personally be fine with just more story DLCs. While both of those options tickle my fancy, it may not go either of those ways. Pitchford specifically asks about “another premium add-on or even a (smaller) set of premium add-ons?” A smaller set of premium add-ons may be hinting at the something like the Headhunters in Borderlands 2, which were these one-shot kind of areas with their own unlockable head at the end of the mission.

Borderlands 3 fans seemed to have responded quite well to the most recent DLC Bounty of Blood, so hopefully Gearbox tries more of what worked with that. Borderlands 3’s post-launch content has been a little different than Borderlands 2’s with the Takedowns and the seasonal events, so these “smaller” premium add-ons might also be different than the ones we saw in Borderlands 2. We will just have to wait and see what that means. Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, Stadia, Xbox One, and PS4.
