As Opposed to Being Released in August
Looks like Larian Studio’s requests to disregard any pre-order offers for Baldur’s Gate 3 were well founded, after all. The game has been delayed, with the early access launch no longer happening in August. Instead, we’ll be getting a launch date announcement on August 18th, 2020.
According to a tweet from Larian Studios, there’s “Good news and bad news. BG3 won’t hit August, but it’s just around the corner.” Some are speculating that this means September instead, but we won’t know for sure until the Panel from Hell, where the release date is being announced. The tweet also promises ‘special guests, and a lot more’ during this event.
One would hope so, unless this turns into a ‘trailer for a trailer’ kind of thing. Perhaps Larian will show off some gameplay, or some unknown mechanical details? Currently, the early access version is set to feature five classes, 11 archetypes, and the first act of the story. Will this initial content change, or is the delay simply about tightening up what’s already there? Either way, we’ve got some time to speculate. Baldur’s Gate 3 is set for release on PC and Google Stadia some time after August.
