The Walking Dead Onslaught Is Another Swing at TWD VR

The Norman Reedus Simulator We Want

Earlier this year, we got The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, a Walking Dead VR game, which hit a lot of targets in terms of what we want in a VR game; fun zombie killing, an immersive world, and it works well, which makes or breaks VR. It sounds like Saints & Sinners is not the only TWD VR game we are getting though. Survios is currently developing The Walking Dead Onslaught, which unlike the Telltale games and Saints & Sinners is set in the AMC world of TWD.

The Walking Dead Onslaught

According to Screen Rant, who interviewed the project lead at Survios, players will be taking on the roles of various characters from the TV show including Daryl Dixon, Carol Peletier, and Rick Grimes. Actions and missions in the game will contribute to the building/rebuilding of Alexandria, where the group of survivors have settled in the more recent seasons. Judging by the cast of characters and setting, the game will be taking place between seasons 9 and 10; after defeating Negan and the Saviors, and before Andrew Lincoln left the show. Not too much has been shown about the game other than some concept art, screen shots, a teaser, and an early build of the game at E3 2019.

Some of the concept art shows one of the settlements with solar panels, an infirmary, and crops. Another shows a very different setting of a desolate small town. Another of Norman Reedus as Daryl, not being very careful of the walkers right behind him. According to the game’s Steam page, there will be a larger gameplay reveal this Summer. The Walking Dead Onslaught is set to release in 2020 for PSVR, SteamVR, and Oculus.
