Fan-Made Legend of Zelda: The Missing Link Built in OoT Engine

Incoming Cease and Desist From Nintendo

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it until the day I die: modders make the world go ’round. Whether it is making the UI of a game more user-friendly, making the graphics and animations more realistic, letting you bang any NPC in the game, or turning the most terrifying enemy into Thomas the Tank Engine, modders do us a service we could never repay. Sometimes, entirely new experiences come out of mods. One modder has made a new N64-era Zelda game set between Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, aptly named The Legend of Zelda: The Missing Link by Kaze Emanuar.

The Legend of Zelda: The Missing Link

The game is a mod of Ocarina of Time, so everything is made using that game engine. It uses assets from both Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, but the world, story, and dungeons are entirely new. The fan-made game was released over the weekend, along with a release trailer. In the trailer, you will see familiar character models, enemies, and objects like buildings and other decorative pieces. We see Link as he appears in Majora’s Mask and it looks like a totally legit LoZ game. It even has the original N64 16:9 aspect ratio.

Nothing major is revealed in the trailer as to what is really in the game content-wise, but it is available for anyone to download right now. Something tells me you should do it quick too, since Nintendo is not very nice when it comes to fan-made content. The Legend of Zelda: The Missing Link is available now.
