New Razer Initiative Allows Users to Donate Masks Via Razer Silver

Users Can Use Razer Silver to Donate Masks for Health Workers

Razer, best known as a gaming peripheral company, has been running the #RazerForLife campaign to support communities and businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Its latest initiative allows Razer Cortex and Gold users to pledge their Razer Silver towards surgical face mask donations.

Users can earn Razer Silver by launching supported games from the free Razer Cortex game optimization software, available for PC or Android. The game must be on the Paid to Play games list on the Razer Cortex software.

Typicallly, Razer Silver can be used to redeem a variety of rewards, such as Razer hardware, digital gift cards, or more games. Now, users have the additional option of donating Razer Silver in support of the fight against COVID-19 instead. Pledged Razer Silver will go towards donating surgical masks for frontline health workers around the world.

“We are calling on the gaming community to do what we do best, stay home and game on, and now for a good cause, too,” said Min-Liang Tan, Razer’s CEO. “Razer’s unique ecosystem of hardware, software and services has always been geared towards the gamer and now we have a way to allow the gaming community to directly contribute to Razer’s key COVID-19 initiatives. For those who are game enough to rise to the challenge, we are excited to see how many masks we can pledge together.”

Other ways to earn Razer Silver include spending Razer’s virtual credit, Razer Gold, on games or game credits.

According to the press release, more than 30,000 masks have already been donated by gamers pledging their Razer Silver. Apart from the Razer Silver donation program, Razer has also committed to donating 1 million additional masks to impacted communities around the globe.
