Good Work Agent 47
The third game of the modern Hitman series was confirmed at today’s PlayStation live event. The good people at IOI Interactive have gone all out on creating a heart-pumping trailer that would make the most miserable person crack a smile. It is speculated that Hitman 3 will be the finale of this mini-series so it goes without saying that there is a lot riding on it.
The Hitman plot has never been all that compelling but it does provide enough backstory to make things interesting. If the past two games are anything to go off of, we should not expect all that much to change for Hitman 3. The Hitman formula has remained largely unchanged over the franchise’s 20 plus years of existence. There is far from a bad thing as the basic mechanics are easy to grasp and are rewarding like no other. As the old saying goes “if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.”
What the most recent installments in the Hitman series have really leaned on is the amount of interactivity that is granted to the player in order to successfully take out a target. Each mission gives players endless options to pull off the perfect assassination. You can go in guns blazing and take out the entire security detail along with your target or use your imagination and kill them by throwing them into the jaws of an overly aggressive hippopotamus. The number of choices that are there is truly staggering.
Not to mention that there numerous challenges and high scores to overcome and complete that will keep you coming back for more. It is rare that “stealth” games actually reward players for remaining undetected but thankfully Hitman is not one of them.
Hitman 3 is going to launch sometime in January 2021 for the PS5.
