Chaos in the Great OutdoorsÂ
According to two separate sources, Far Cry 6 is going to be unveiled at Ubisoft’s upcoming conference that is scheduled for July. Far Cry has been one of Ubisoft’s biggest cash cows over the past few years especially after the smash hit that was Far Cry 3 in 2012. Since then the series has remained at a steady pace and has continued to pump out quality content. While some fans have complained that the more recent titles have not been able to capture the same level of immersion and high-end narrative that was present in FC3, each game has something worthwhile and unique to offer.
If these reports do turn out to be true then it can only be assumed that we will see Far Cry 6 launch on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. One of the biggest shortcomings of both the PS4 and Xbox One when they released was a severe lack of options. At first glance, it appears as though this will not be an issue for this generation of consoles.
There is no telling what Ubisoft will be able to do with the new tech that is available to them. Hopefully, this will only lead to a game with even more attention to detail than ever before. Surviving in the wilderness and crafting have played an enormous role in the Far Cry franchise since the very beginning, perhaps this aspect of the game can be expanded upon even further.
Both reports claim that the new setting for Far Cry 6 is going to be set in a more tropical location like the Caribbean or South America. Something that is a good sign of the series returning to its roots. Ubisoft pledged earlier this year that they would be putting much more effort into their single-player titles. Maybe Far Cry 6 will be the first step in that direction.
