If You Can’t Beat ‘Em…
EA Access is a service that is slowly but surely spreading out onto different platforms. If you are unfamiliar with it, EA Access is a subscription service that allows users to play a select group of EA titles in their entirety for free. Having a subscription also gives users varying discounts on other EA games and content. Once a game has been added to the “Vault” of EA Access titles, it will not be removed unless it is delisted from the platform altogether. It first appeared on Xbox One in 2014 and then on PS4 in 2019. Soon, Steam users will also be able to benefit from it.
It is not that PC users had no EA Access-like option before now. Origin is the PC equivalent for EA Access, but with the service expanding to Steam, more users may be encouraged to use it. We all know how upset they got when the Epic Games Store challenged Steam for their users’ divided attention. EA Access on Steam at launch will not have quite the extensive library that Xbox One has, but will include games like Dragon Age: Inquisition, Dragon Age II, a few Need for Speed games, Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, and indie games like Unravel 1 and 2, Fe, and Sea of Solitude.
On June 11th, EA Play Live will broadcast some announcements relating to Steam’s EA Access. There will undoubtedly be more titles revealed for the service and hopefully a launch date. EA Access is available now on Xbox One and PS4.
