Well, An Updated One At Least
A Swedish retailer has had a retail listing for the Metroid Prime Trilogy on the Nintendo Switch since 2018. Now, that listing has been updated, citing a June 19th release date. Nintendo has done nothing to corroborate this information, but still. 2018! Either this company is playing the long game, or they know something we don’t.
We’ve been hearing Metroid Prime Switch rumors for a really long time at this point. Yet, this one has the whispers of legitimacy for a couple of reasons. One, the date suddenly changed. Two, that date is just after the old E3 schedule window. Doesn’t this feel just like something Nintendo would have done, drop a big piece of news, followed by an almost immediate release date?
On the other hand, this is 100% speculation at this point. Said retailer could be keeping this going just to drive site traffic. Or maybe it’s based on old information that’s no longer accurate. The listing used to mention something about The Game Awards, but that text has since been removed. On the other, other hand, Nintendo did just announce a new Paper Mario game with almost no warning. Maybe this is the new normal?
