Square Enix Heard You Like Final Fantasy XI, So They Put Final Fantasy XI in XIV (Kind Of)
The two Final Fantasy MMORPGs will come together for a short time in the “The Maiden’s Rhapsody: Memories of the Unseen Realm” collaboration event on Final Fantasy XIV. From now until June 22, players can speak to an NPC named Remumu in the Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks to start the event quest, ‘A Journey to Remember’.
During the quest, players have to keep Remumu, who is a Harbor Herald reporter, safe while helping her investigate a story. As a reward, players receive Iroha’s Amatsu set from Final Fantasy XI. The set includes an Amatsu hachigane (head), togi (body), tekko (hands), haidate (legs), and sune-ate (feet).
This event was previously held in Final Fantasy XIV in 2015 and 2017, both times to celebrate separate events in Final Fantasy XI. According to a clarification by Square Enix, players who completed the event previously will not be able to play through it again this year. However, the reward remains the same as in previous years.
The event ends after June 22 and will become unavailable. There’s always the chance that it’ll be brought back again in the future, but it’s probably best to experience it while you can, and snag the samurai armor–inspired Amatsu set.
Over the summer, Square Enix also plans to introduce a revamp of Final Fantasy XIV’s base game, A Realm Reborn, in a major patch. The patch (Reflections in Crystal) will also have new content for players who have completed Shadowbringers, including post-Shadowbringers main story quests, new Trials, and another Nier Automata crossover raid, ‘The Puppet’s Bunker’.
