[Fan-Caution Intensifies]
As someone who absolutely loves the Borderlands series, but is painfully aware of failed Hollywood adaptations of video game and anime series, the prospect of a Borderlands movie terrifies me. Though the idea of a Borderlands movie has been floated around for the past… since Borderlands 1, the project has picked up steam in recent months. Hostel creator Eli Roth is set to direct, Chernobyl writer Craig Mazin is writing the screenplay, and Avi and Arid Arad are producing it with Erik Feig, but we haven’t had any word of what we will really see on screen. A few days ago, we got an idea of who we might see.
According to Variety, Australian actress Cate Blanchett is in talks to play Lilith. She certainly looks the part; pale skin, slender, long-ish neck. We also know she’s got mad skills. Many accolades for her acting include 2 Academy Awards, 3 Golden Globes, and 3 British Academy Film Awards. If she does play Lilith, hopefully she will be the badass we saw in the first couple of games and not just the exposition role we got of Lilith in Borderlands 3.
We are incredibly excited about this news! Borderlands is shaping up to be an amazing movie!https://t.co/42VT8YUQkc pic.twitter.com/zJY7M7B5to

Cate Blanchett is possibly most well known for her role as Lady Galadriel in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001-2003) and The Hobbit trilogy (2012-2014). She also played the titular role in Cinderella (2015) and the villainous Hela in Thor: Ragnarok (2017), among other roles across her nearly three decade long career. Though it is not set is stone, Blanchett would no doubt knock it out of the park if she were cast. There is no current release date for the Borderlands movie.
