The PS5 is Going to Be Hard to Get Ahold of Later This Year
At the beginning of 2020, it looked as though the console wars were going to be in full swing. Both Xbox and PlayStation were giving it their all in order to try and outperform one another. But sometimes you cannot predict a global pandemic. This has, of course, made things quite complicated. While fans of both companies were foaming at the mouth to get their hands on the latest and greatest consoles, this excitement has died down as priorities have shifted. With loads of people being laid off work, it is understandable that buying the flashiest new gaming set up might not be on everyone’s mind anymore. Sony has realized this and has announced that they will be limiting their production of the PS5.
There is no exact release date confirmed at this time, but it is understood that we should see both consoles make their debut sometime in late 2020. Just in time for Christmas. Sony has made it clear that there is only going to be 6 million consoles ready from Fall 2020 until March 2021. A much smaller number than the amount of PS4’s sold when it first reached shelves.
The coronavirus has played a significant role in Sony’s decision. However, it is worth noting that the PS5 is going to have quite a hefty price tag attached to it as well. Even if this virus has never happened, chances are that is would not have the same initial success as the PS4 based on price alone. The expected price of the PS5 is estimated to be around $499 to $549 (USD). These prices will also fluctuate depending on where you live.
Sony has been adamant about not pushing back the PS5 because of the coronavirus. It looks as though the show will go on, rain or shine.
