Final Fantasy XII PC and PS4 Finally Get Xbox One and Switch Updates

New Career Paths

At its launch, Final Fantasy XII was the last of the series on the PS2. It was during that era of the series that the graphics and animations really graduated from cartoon-y fantasy to a more realistic fantasy. Those qualities made remasters of  Final Fantasy X, X-2, and XII big ticket items. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age was first remastered for the PS4 in 2017, then for PC in 2018, and then Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in 2019. However, they were not all made equal. While the PS4 version did have vast improvements over the original PS2 version, the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One versions had their own exclusive benefits.

Final Fantasy XII Zodiac Age Featured

When The Zodiac Age released on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One just under a year ago, players had the new option to change jobs by visiting the character Montblanc. It is a respec function that many RPGs have. Players also had options to switch Gambit sets. In previous versions, there was only one set per character, and each Gambit had to be changed individually, if they were to be changed at all, which made bosses with multiple phases a real chore. The Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions gave each character three Gambit sets to switch between.

A couple of days ago, patches were released on PS4 and Steam versions of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age to include these features. I guess now that Final Fantasy VII Remake has been released, there has been some time for the other games. If you haven’t played Final Fantasy XII since the days of the PS2, now might be a good a time as any to pick it back up. Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
