This Piece Speaks to the Voices in My Head
Video Games are art. Don’t let anyone tell you different. There is a cyclical idea of art imitating life and life imitating art, but art also imitates video games. We see this in fan art and professional contract art alike. The Borderlands series has a very specific art style, and we are seeing it taken beyond the digital medium with the Borderlands 3 Fine Art Print Collection on Cook and Becker. Not only are there multiple prints available, but there are options for sizes; some are small enough for a desk portrait in place of a loved one and some are big enough to demand an entire wall for it.
Most of the art pieces are different styles of the iconic Psycho Bandit mask. There are gold, graffiti, neon, and other portrayals of the mask, as well as one panorama collage of the heroes and villains of Borderlands 3. As varying as these styles are, the sizes and prices of them vary just as much. All the smallest pieces (40×30 cm) are priced at about $90 USD, the medium sizes (80×60 cm) are priced at $185 USD, and the large ones (120×90 cm) are around $305 USD. But that’s just for the unframed posters.
There are different tiers of quality and protection that they come with. There are also options for a black wood frame and acrylic display glass, or a Dibond panel print, or an aluminum print with “museum grade UV protection”. Each of these protective displays jack up the price of whatever size you want. So getting the largest size with the metal print and UV protection will run you over $1,000 USD. That would be perfect for my Borderlands museum. Borderlands 3 is available for PC, Stadia, Xbox One, and PS4.
