Citing New Logistical Challenges
A blog post from inXile studio head Brian Fargo announced a new release date for Wasteland 3 this morning. The highly anticipated RPG is now being released on August 28, 2020. As usual, our old pal COVID-19 is to blame. Turns out working from home is a whole new ballgame, logistically speaking. Fargo writes:
As with most companies, we moved to a work-from-home environment some weeks ago, and that’s of course introduced new challenges that many of us throughout the world have been learning to manage. We’ve been excited to see the Wasteland 3 Beta so well received, but the reality is that with these new logistical challenges our release was going to be impacted.
After some conversations with the publishers, it was decided that the game should shift release dates. Working from home is a lot to adjust to, and the entire industry is going to be doing so for a little while. One wonders what other release dates are going to be impacted by this pandemic. Bigger still, how will this crisis change people’s relationships with work? If we can make it work from home, will we just… do so from now on? Personally, I’m almost starting to miss my coworkers. Wasteland 3 is coming to PC, PS4, and the Xbox One on August 28th, 2020.
