Jump for Joy
Leap Years occur only about once every four years. 2020 is one such year and this means that an extra calendar day is added to the end of February. Yesterday was February 29th, Leap Day, and Rockstar Games celebrated Leap Day in a pretty interesting way. They added special Leap Day Red Dead Online challenges that require a double-take to really get it. The challenges for yesterday were all jumping related. Get it? Jump? Leap? For a game all about guns, the West, and horses, it was a pretty creative way to take advantage of this quadrennial day.
If you missed the challenges, the list was posted on Reddit yesterday. They all involve jumping in some way. The image shows some screenshots of the acts being completed and the challenges that go with them. The listed challenges include: jump from a horse onto a moving train, jump from a horse to a moving wagon, jump from a horse to another horse, and jump onto a horse from a 3m height. A challenge not listed is survive an ambush. Wait, what does that have to do with leaping? Oh. An ambush is when you are getting jumped. V clever, Rockstar. V clever.
Nearly every game participates in annual holidays, but very few appeared to celebrate Leap Day. Personally, I would have like to see a Red Dead Online challenge that required players to jump 1,000 times. It would be a laugh and a half to see a server full of players just continually jumping. Red Dead Redemption 2 is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
How did you celebrate Leap Day? Let us know in the comments below.
