Tons of Remasters and Also New Games
It’s going to be a banner year for Mario, if the reports coming in are to be believed. Several separate sources have told VGC that Nintendo is making big moves in honor of Mario’s 35th anniversary. Specifically, a whole bunch of Mario’s games are going to be remastered for the Switch. Other Mario plans involve new games, maybe?
These big plans were originally going to coincide with E3 2020, but that’s not happening anymore. Not that Nintendo ever had a conference-style presence at the event. But now there’s even less incentive to drop this news in June. Who knows when these vague whispers will coalesce into facts? All of this lines up nicely with the plans to release a Mario animated film, along with that badass Super Mario World theme park in the works.
But wait, there’s more! Along with the rumors about the remasters and the new games comes Paper Mario! In particular, we’re seeing a new Paper Mario title announced among this supposedly inevitable onslaught of Nintendo summer proclamations. Nintendo of course refuses to comment on such baseless speculation. We’ll keep you posted with any and all updates pertaining to Mario plans surrounding the iconic plumber’s 35th birthday.
