Rumor time! Bust out your salt grains and suspend your growing disbelief, it’s time to speculate on the future of the Resident Evil franchise! A regularly appearing Capcom insider is fairly certain that this will be a good Resident Evil year, a sentiment that does not extend to spinoffs or other selected Capcom franchises.
A series of Tweets from Dusk Golem lay out all the details. According to them, this year will be “a pretty crazy time to be a Resident Evil fan.” They elaborated on this premise, adding that “There’s going to be another Resident Evil game releasing within the next 366 day period outside of RE3, but I’m not talking any further about it until RE3 is out.”
The bad news, first. This mystery game? Not a remake of Code Veronica. Also Dino Crisis is presently extinct, with a scrapped project keeping the franchise good and buried for the foreseeable future. This leaves a brand new game or like, yet another remake. Keep in mind that this could also be an adaptation of some sort. They’ve already made a baker’s dozen worth of films, so maybe a Netflix show? Let us all speculate wildly, preparing statements of disappointment for when reality inevitably lets us down.
