Some Fans Are Now Convinced That Hideo Kojima Predicted the Coronavirus With Death Stranding

Time to Put on Your Tinfoil Hats!

Everyone likes a good conspiracy theory. Some are harmless fun, while others are going to put you on an FBI watchlist. However, some are so crazy that you just have to stop and wonder where we went wrong as a species. Some video game fans are convinced that Hideo Kojima, predicted the coronavirus outbreak and tried to warn us all by releasing Death Stranding.

For those who not played the game, Death Stranding Takes place in a post-apocalyptic America where the survivors are forced to heavily isolate themselves from the dangers of the outside world. Sam Bridges, the main character, is one of a few curriers that is responsible for providing food and other essentials to these isolated colonies. Think of him as a Uber Eats employee but he has to worry about not being killed in the wasteland.

As you can see, there are a few “similarities” between the setting of the game and the COVID-19 outbreak we are all experiencing right now. While some might say that these connections are grasping at straws, for some, this is evidence enough that Hideo Kojima knew the virus was coming all along. In the same way, the Simpson’s can predict the future, Hideo can foresee catastrophic global pandemics.

There are obvious holes in this argument that Hideo knew about the coronavirus, but that won’t stop people from being crazy. Some have gone so far that they have even built bodysuits that mimic the ones seen in Death Stranding in hopes that it will protect them from the virus. What a time to be alive.

We are certainly living in unprecedented times, but that does not mean you have permission to lose your mind. Keep calm, wash your hands, and please stop buying all the toilet paper.
