Animal Crossing New Horizons Might Be the Cheerful, Happy Game the World Needs Right Now
With the coronavirus pandemic seemingly escalating day after day and official quarantine measures ordering people to stay indoors and close down businesses, it’s important to have an temporary reprieve from it all. For some, it’s watching shows, listening to music, or reading but, for others, it’s the recently launched Animal Crossing New Horizons that’s providing an escape.
According to a recent The Verge interview, New Horizons’ producer Hisashi Nogami certainly hopes that the game’s fans will use it “as an escape” during such difficult times.
“We’ve been planning this release for quite some time, so it’s unfortunate that this timing overlapped with what’s currently happening in the world,” Nogami told The Verge. “I am very disheartened and saddened by the events happening across the world. Considering the timing, we hope that a lot of the Animal Crossing fans will use this as an escape, so they can enjoy themselves during this difficult time.”
Nogami also praised the worldwide simultaneous release of New Horizons, saying that “a global, simultaneous release is a really good approach for the franchise.”
