“So, You Want to Skip Some Story, Huh?”
Someone did some digging around in the files of Borderlands 3 on PC and discovered something pretty cool. An unused Borderlands 3 cutscene was found that looks like it replaces the opening cinematic for a second playthrough. It begins like any other Borderlands intro, with Marcus narrating, only it fast-forwards through exposition and only includes important parts. It also includes new scenes of when Tyreen does her thing with Lilith. I know how that sounds, but I’m trying to avoid giving away a plot point while also hinting at my fanfic. The cinematic ends suggesting that the game will now start aboard Sanctuary III.
Anyone who has beaten Borderlands 3 and started True Vault Hunter Mode knows about the option to skip the opening cutscene and mission, and get right into the game. This new cutscene suggests that this feature may have originally been taken much further and started the game after the first Pandora sequence. This may have worked out very similarly to the new feature added to Borderlands 2. For players who wanted to get right into Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary DLC after starting a new character, an option was given to automatically level up the character to level 30 and clear the game of story missions to unlock the entire map.
Probably a very dumb question : what is this cutscene ? I have never seen it in game. from r/borderlands3
Perhaps the unused cutscene and skip feature would have unlocked all planets and side missions, or at the very least started the game at a more interesting point. Personally, I would have liked to have this feature on my True Vault Hunter start. Borderlands 3 is available on PC, Stadia, Xbox One, and PS4.
What do you make of this cutscene? Let us know in the comments below.
