Previous Assassin’s Creed “Leaks” Are Most Likely Fakes

The Internet Strikes Again

The internet can teach us all a bunch of valuable life sessions. One of those is not believing everything you read or hear. Unfortunately, this is most likely to apply for all the previous rumors and supposed leaks pertaining to the next Assassin’s Creed game. The upcoming AC game was rumored to be taking place in the Viking Age with a massive expansive world that would allow the player to sail from Denmark to England. A lot of it all sounded too good to be true and now that is probably the case.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

A Twitter user has claimed responsibility for one of the best known “leaked” screenshots of the game. He just made it for a laugh. Absolutely hilarious. The tweet reads,  “Well, it’s time to tell you the truth: it was I who created this image. So it is indeed a fake.”

Another blurry screenshot of what appeared to be the main protagonist was circling around the web. This also has been found to be fake. Sadly there is a very small chance that we will see Assassin’s Creed take place in the Viking Era. However, there would be a lot of challenges that would have come with the time period anyways. The lack of large major cities at the time would have been a huge problem for the famous wall running and climbing aspect that the series is known for. Also having such a large and expansive open world would have also been a bit too ambitious. In hindsight, perhaps we should have seen this coming.

While this might be a bit of a letdown, there is still a new Assassin’s Creed game to look forward to. We just don’t know what it’s going to look like. Maybe it’s better that way.
