Stormdivers Follows in This Month’s Gaming Trend
It happened to Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Marvel’s Avengers, Cyberpunk 2077, Iron Man VR, and now, Stormdivers. Ilari Kuittinen, CEO of the Finn wish game company Housemarque, announced that development is being put on hold in a post celebrating the company’s 25th anniversary.
“we are focused on delivering our most ambitious and biggest game to date, putting every other project on hold, including the development of Stormdivers.”
There are no details about the game beyond the claim that it is going to be a massive undertaking for the company. Every member of the Housemarque team is being put to work on this game. Housemarque has roughly 80 employees. The team also has a publisher attached to the project but they have not revealed who it is.
Stormdivers is a battle Royale game that was announced in 2018. The game has been in development since 2016. It is unknown when Housemarque will get back to finish the game, or if the game will be put on hold indefinitely.
Housemarque has seen modest success in its arcade-style games such as Nex Machina, Resogun, and Alienation. The company announced their intent to move away from arcade games in 2017. Stormdivers was supposed to be the first step in their move to more modern game styles.
