The Takedown Suffered Its Own Takedown
The Takedowns being introduced to the series in Borderlands 3 are like raids in other multiplayer games. They are digestible runs of challenging enemies that yield premium loot. The difficulty of these Takedowns are locked to match a maximum level party of 4 with Legendary weapons and gear. Basically, you need to be a team of top of the line Vault Hunters to have a shot at it. Gearbox planned to have a Borderlands 3 Takedown event that scaled the difficulty to the party, meaning you could attempt it with less than four players or even on your own. Unfortunately, that event hit a snag.
This limited time event was meant to run from December 31st to January 16th. However, on December 31st, Gearbox made an announcement on its various social media accounts that the event would be delayed “due to technical issues”. It has been a few days since that announcement, but so far no word beyond its delay has been given. Gearbox does say that they will share more information when it is available, but again, who knows when that will be?
Due to technical issues, today’s event, which would scale the difficulty of “Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite” to number of players, is being postponed to a future date. We will share more information here when we’re able. Thank you for your patience.

In the meantime, Gearbox has announced the Photo Contest winners. Your ol’ pal Zane didn’t make the podium even though some of his pics were way better, but that’s okay. Winners get some sweet Borderlands loot and one lucky person gets a trip to Gearbox HQ. Hopefully, the Takedown at Maliwan’s Blacksite event will be able to be done solo soon. Borderlands 3 is out now on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia.
