Author of The Witcher Pokes Fun at Game of Thrones

Shots Fired

The Witcher series on Netflix has taken over the fantasy genre since it debuted on December 20th. The show has seen a lot of success and has been relatively well-liked by fans. It is by no means perfect, but it has certainly set up the potential for a very good show in later seasons. The author of the book series that the show is based on, Andrzej Sapkowski, has had a huge role behind the scenes of the show to make sure the showrunners are not veering too far from the source material.

If you can recall, this is the same position that George RR Martin took on the early seasons of Game of Thrones. Of course, there have been a lot of people who have made comparisons between the two shows. The final season of Game of Thrones ended this year and it upset a majority of fans. The final season felt rushed and was so far removed from what fans had seen previously in earlier seasons. For obvious reasons, some Witcher fans are now worried that The Witcher show will follow the same course. However, Sapkowski has assured them otherwise.

“I believe that my job as a creative consultant for this series is to make sure that at NO point in the show [will] Ed Sheeran sing. And that I will make sure doesn’t happen. I will make sure,” he said. Sapkowski is referring to the cameo that Ed Sheeran famously made in Game of Thrones. This is one of the many moments that were seen by many as the decline in quality in Game of Thrones.

Rest assured, Sapkowski is going to make sure there is no funny business. Expect to see a show that remains loyal to the source material.
