What’s the Hold-Up?
Every month PlayStation wheels out a handful of new games that will be available to those who have PS Plus. However, for whatever reason, there has been no announcement yet. PlayStation is behind schedule. Sony and company usually declare what games are going to be free for the month a week in advance in order to give everyone a heads up and build up excitement. But that has not happened yet in December. The deafening silence that is emanating from Sony has a lot of fans nervous.
The reason for this delay could be chalked up to the fact that Sony doesn’t want to announce anything important during Christmas time. People are usually focused on holiday festivities and whatnot. Unveiling games around that time of year could end up falling on deaf ears due to other distractions in most people’s lives. Fans should not have to wait very long to find out what free games will be arriving in the new year.
The free games of the month are usually rolled out on a Wednesday. So a New Year’s Day debut is not out of the question. There is no way to know what games are going to be tossed out by PlayStation but they are usually fairly decent games. The titles that are made free tend to be games that have been overlooked by a lot of people in past years or older triple-A games. For instance, the Last of Us was handed out for free a few months ago.
Both PlayStation and Xbox have done a very good job of offering quality free content to their customers. Something that was almost unheard of on the previous generation of consoles. Hopefully, this trend can continue for the PS5 and Xbox Series X at the end of 2020.
