Half-Life Lyfe!
It’s been well over twelve years since the last installment of the Half-Life series was released, but we finally have confirmation of a new game. While Half-Life: 2 – Episode 2 does not end with a fulfilling conclusion to the series, the story remains unfinished. However, do not expect Half-Life: Alyx to finish it either. The Half-Life: Alyx trailer that Valve released earlier today indicates that it takes place between the events of Half-Life and Half-Life 2. Whomp-whomp. But if you liked Alyx in Half-Life 2, then you are going to get a lot more of her. She is the title character after all.
From the looks of the trailer, Half-Life: Alyx will take on the same themes and elements from its predecessors as a first person shooter with a sprinkle of horror. It is an alien game after all. Common VR tools like grabbing items from a distance and hovering them over to the player are used in the trailer and will likely be linked to the gravity gun that Gordon Freeman uses. Because the game will take place before Half-Life 2, it would be neat to see it end with the comeback of Gordon.
As predicted in the leaked transcript where this game was first rumored, Half-Life: Alyx will be launching in March 2020. You can even pre-order it right now on Steam with 10% off. If your PC is VR ready, will you be picking it up?
