In the Valley of Gods Might Be Facing Some Trouble

As I Walk Through the Valley of Abandoned IPs

After Campo Santo released the indie hit Firewatch, the developers joined Valve and began their next venture called In the Valley of Gods. Not too much information is given about the details of the game, but from its Steam page, it appears to be set in Egypt and may borrow elements similar to its predecessor Firewatch. It is a first-person single-player adventure game about discovering Egyptian tombs and possibly some unexpected surprises. That may all be a thing of the past though, because there are some hints suggesting that the project may have been abandoned.

In The Valley of Gods

Following your favourite developers on Twitter is a good way to stay up to date with the progress on upcoming games. A fan that has been following the developers of In the Valley of Gods noticed a change between the three devs. All of them appear to have removed phrases like “Currently working on In the Valley of Gods” from their Twitter bios. Instead, they say something more general, such as “Working at Valve”. This is troubling for fans looking forward to this game.

Some fans are suspecting a cancellation at the hands of Valve. The publisher is, after all, notorious for not following up their biggest hits like Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and Team Fortress 2. In the Valley of Gods doesn’t even have a 3 in it, what’s the deal?
