The Story So Far
In January, Kingdom Hearts 3 came out. To say that it was long-awaited would be an understatement, but it was the first Kingdom Hearts game to come out on an Xbox console. A couple of months after, news broke that a collection of Kingdom Hearts games called The Story So Far would also be hitting the Xbox One. That turned out to be false or the plan for it fell through, but we haven’t seen it. Yesterday however, at X019 in London, it was confirmed that the same games (under a different name) would indeed be arriving on Xbox One. It was only a matter of time.
Let’s break down this collection of games. There’s the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix, which includes Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Re:Chain of Memories, 358/2 Days, Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, Birth By Sleep Final Mix, and Re:Coded. Then there’s Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue, which is Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, 0.2 Birth By Sleep, and Kingdom Hearts Back Cover. 0.2 Birth By Sleep and Back Cover are not playable games, but instead are basically extra lore for the hardcore fans.
If you have been playing the games since the series first launched and you are an Xbox One owner, you might be interested in picking these up. You may have already played and beaten Kingdom Hearts 3, so this next part is probably negligible, but there is also a new Kingdom Hearts 3 demo available on Xbox One. The new demo contains sections from Olympus and Toy Box. The early Kingdom Hearts games will finally be coming to Xbox One in 2020.
