Campers and Over Powered Weapons Are Not a Good Combo in Call of DutyÂ
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been a massive success. Both from a financial standpoint as well as a cultural one. Everyone is talking about it. However, as great as the game might be, there are some glaring issues with the multiplayer that many fans are not happy about. Modern Warfare has a huge problem with camping.
Since the Call of Duty beta, fans have been quite vocal about the issue of players standing still in corners, waiting for some unlucky guy to walk into his field of view in order to nab an easy kill. This annoyance is nothing new with FPS games, but it is exceptionally bad in Modern Warfare.
Players have blamed map design, quick time to kill, and overpowered shotguns for incentivizing people to remain static and camp. However, shotguns are not the only weapon to be criticized, the M4 also has a lot of people screaming and pulling out their hair. Infinity Ward is probably going to patch both of those weapons. But that still does not address the maps themselves.
As irritating as camping is, there is not much that the developers can do aside from redesigning the maps. Something that is very unlikely to happen. But that does not mean that the DLC maps have to fall victim to the same pitfalls as the vanilla maps. As a matter of fact, a list of the DLC maps has been leaked online. From what we know so far, a lot of them are going to be throwbacks to older Call of Duty maps. Maps that did not encourage camping. We can only wait and pray.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is currently out on the PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
