It Always Comes Down to One Question
Rainbow Six Siege is always looking to add more Operators to the game. It has even been said by the developers that they would like to reach 100 playable characters. Ubisoft likes to add characters from around the globe with different skill sets and gadgets, things that make them unique. The question has come up about if they would add a Rainbow Six Siege Dog Operator, and it has been talked about a lot. It always comes down to one question though: “Are you okay with shooting a dog?”
People love dogs. Man’s best friend and all that. But when a dog is introduced to a game, well it’s a game changer. Think about the times dogs are introduced to games that are violent in nature. Fallout 3 and 4, Blair Witch; these games have dog companions and players feel they have to protect the dog at all cost, because you know, it’s a dog. If you add a dog to Rainbow Six Siege… I don’t really even want to think about it. When an enemy player encounters one of your drones or cameras or teammates, they get lit up. What do you think would happen if you had a dog instead of a drone?
On a recent episode of Wired’s Tech Support, Ubisoft’s Alexander Karpazis took questions from Twitter users about Rainbow Six Siege. One of the questions was about if they would add a Dog Operator or a K9 Unit. Apparently, this idea has been thrown around a lot by the developers, but they just aren’t comfortable putting a dog in a position where players would have to shoot it. K9 units are invaluable to police in real life, and let’s be honest, they could have so many cool abilities like sniffing out poison or explosives in Siege, but at what cost? It’s probably better that they leave the puppers at home.
Would you shoot a dog? Please don’t let us know in the comments below.
