A CoD Modern Warfare Developer Denies That the Game Has Lootboxes
An Infinity Ward art director denied on Sunday that the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will have lootboxes or a supply drop system. There have been rumors about lootboxes being featured in the latest Call of Duty game but this recent statement seems to have debunked those rumors.
“There continues to be misinformed and incorrect info being pushed about Modern Warfare,” said art director Joel Emslie in a post on the official Modern Warfare subreddit. “What I can say right now is that we are definitely NOT working on any kind of supply drop or loot box system. Also, functional stuff is unlocked through GAMEPLAY. Stay tuned, we’re planning to release info this week.”
Given the game’s publisher being Activision, it makes sense why there would be rumors about Modern Warfare having lootboxes or some kind of microtransactions. But this statement from Emslie confirms that there won’t be gameplay-altering microtransactions at least.
