Could Have Gone Smoother
The highly anticipated expansion, Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is off to a rough start. Players have run into a lot of issues with the game. Connectivity problems and bugs seem to be the biggest concern. To make sure everything is running smoothly, Bungie has taken down servers for both Destiny and Destiny 2 for emergency maintenance. There is no clear time table for when the game will be back up and running.
The newfound problems within Shadowkeep are particularly troubling as Bungie just recently shut down servers in order to prep for the launch of the expansion. However, it is now clear there were some issues that they missed. The game was almost unplayable at launch do to players rarely connecting with servers. It goes without saying that this is a huge blunder for a game that is almost entirely multiplayer.
MMO’s have all been in hot water recently over connectivity issues. WoW Classic being the most well know. Long queue times, as well as unreliable servers, plagued the ambitious reboot weeks into its launch. It also doesn’t help that it was the victim of a massive DDoS attack only a few weeks ago.
Despite these setbacks, Shadowkeep is still expected to do well. The original Destiny did not live up to many fans’ expectations but Destiny 2 was able to rebound and accumulate a large and respectable following. Shadowkeep as been on the minds of every Destiny fan.
Bungie has done relatively well for themselves since they split from the Halo franchise many years ago. The tight gunplay and intriguing universe that made the Halo series so captivating is still felt in games like Destiny. Hopefully, everything will be up and running sooner than later.
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is currently available for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
