Autosave Coming to Pokemon Sword and Shield

The Latest in a Long List of Modern Conveniences

Thanks to a massive cover feature from Game Informer, we’ve got a whole lot more information about Pokemon Sword and Shield. In particular, it looks like the new games are getting an autosave feature at last. How 21st century of them!

Pokemon Sword and Shield autosave

There’s been other features addressed as well, but they’re… less new than autosave. HMs are out, but that’s been the case for a little while now. The same goes for the more streamlined Exp share system. The devs dropped that one on us back in Sun and Moon. It’s lovely, but not a new feature by any means.

On the other hand, the Max Raid system seems like it’s going to shake things up a little more than usual. If nothing else, there will be some terribly tough Pokemon wandering around, waiting to be challenged. On a separate but still significant note, the Pokemon Home system is still more or less a mystery. Now that Nintendo is charging for its online services, a new version of the Pokemon Bank had better be crazy robust if it wants keep people invested. It’s also been said that the amount of gyms is going way up, but I can’t substantiate this claim. Regardless, players won’t have too much longer to wait before Pokemon Sword and Shield comes out on November 15.
