Cyberpunk 2077 ‘Probably’ Couldn’t Run on the Switch, Says CD Projekt Red Dev

We (Probably) Shouldn’t Expect Cyberpunk 2077 to Come to Nintendo Switch

Cyberpunk 2077 was initially announced for PC, PS4, and Xbox One at E3 2018 before being announced for Google Stadia in August. So, could CD Projekt Red’s highly-anticipated open world RPG come to Nintendo Switch?

Well, according studio head John Mamais, a Switch port probably won’t happen but he wasn’t absolutely sure about that.

Cyberpunk 2077

“Who would have thought a game like The Witcher 3 would be possible on Switch, so who knows?” Mamais said to GameSpot recently at the PAX Australia convention. “I guess we’ll see, if we decide to put it on the Switch, if we can do it. Probably not.”

The Witcher 3 getting a Switch port was one of the biggest surprises of E3 2019. Though the port’s graphics got a downgrade compared to what’s seen on the other platforms the game launched on, it’s still impressive that such a huge open-world game can be played on the go.

So maybe a Switch port could happen? Cyberpunk 2077 runs on the same engine as The Witcher 3 but is obviously much more graphically advanced so who knows how much of a graphical downgrade would be necessary. That said, if CD Projekt Red could pull off a Switch port then that means more gamers get to play its latest title.
