Are You Afraid of the Dark?
If I could write out the sound of night vision goggles activating, that would be the subheading. Anyway, most games have a really difficult time capturing pitch-black darkness. In the CoD series, night vision goggles have been a fun tool for players ever since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Modern Warfare 2’s collector’s edition even came with its own set of functioning goggles. This year’s CoD recently held its beta for players to try. During this time, fans got to play on a few maps and you may have been surprised with how dark they could really get. It seems the Modern Warfare night vision goggles will be really useful this time around.
If you haven’t had the chance to check out the beta to see for yourself, someone has taken it upon themselves to show everyone. In the video, a player visits a couple of different maps in their night phase, Azhir Cave and Hackney Yard. The player enters dark areas without the goggles, and then puts them on for comparison. In some areas, there are a few sources of light, providing a bit of visibility. Even in those places, the night vision goggles make a huge difference. It’s like day and night!
Your ol’ pal Zane usually doesn’t have time for nonsense like visibility. I usually just adjust my darkness settings so that I can see better in the dark, but this time around I might just give it the old college try. The Modern Warfare open beta is available right now for PS4 and PC users. Xbox One users can play if they pre-ordered or have Xbox Live Gold.
