Naughty Dog is Promising Everyone That The Last of Us Part 2 Will Run Perfectly on Older PS4s

We Shall See

As consoles get older and games become better, sometimes it is difficult for the old hardware on dated platforms to keep up. This has been a major concern for people who are using the original version of the PS4. It is not uncommon for large scale games to struggle to run properly on older versions of consoles. However, Naughty Dog, the developers of The Last of Us has promised its fans that the older version of the PlayStation 4 will be able to run their game with no issue.

The Last of Us Part II HERO 2

Fans’ worries were only made worse when you could clearly see “Captured from PS4 Pro.” at the gameplay demos for The Last of Us 2. Naughty Dog has publically stated that “Our target platform is the PS4.”

Emilia Schatz, the lead game designer also added, “You want to have that balance, but you know, there’s still a lot of optimization now to get done. What you saw here isn’t quite our final frame rate and final screen resolution, stuff like that.”

As reassuring as the developers might be, we will only know for sure at launch. The Last of Us 2 is a massive game. In more ways than one. Naughty Dog has previously boasted that this is going to be their biggest game yet. Not to mention the high-end graphics and textures. The Last of Us 2 is such a behemoth that it will be shipped on two discs.

The PS4 is getting to the end of its lifespan. There is no exact date of the when we will see the PS5, but we know its around the corner. Hopefully, a platform that has been out since 2013 is able to keep up the demands of a cutting edge game.

The Last of Us 2 is out in February 2020.
