Well At Least One Really Rad Dragon
Pixel art adventure games might feel like a dime a dozen, but few of them attempt any sort of authenticity. Starsoft’s Savior is leaning hard into the bygone era of 2D action adventure, and the results writ large on every frame. Maybe the frame rate is better and the action is butter smooth, but this looks to be an absolute time capsule of a title.
You play as Sam, a warrior faced with a divided world steeped in conflict. It’s your job to see if you can’t mend some fences and change some minds. Why pick a side when everyone could survive instead?
Gameplay consists of sick action sequences, tons of quests, and a little bit of rebuilding. After all, people are less inclined to fight if their other needs are being met. The trailer embedded below gives a quick look at what’s in store. Sam appears to have remarkable athletic prowess, spear skills, and a little old fashioned diplomacy. Also there’s a little bit of dragon riding! Can’t save a broken world without a sweet purple steed, you know. You can check out the Steam page and the Patreon if you want to learn more and/or get in on the ground floor. There’s no release date just yet, but hopefully we learn that soon.
