Giant Monsters vs Giant Robots
Season 8 of Fortnite closed out with the Drum Gun being unvaulted and the the volcano erupting. The eruption destroyed Tilted Towers and Retail Row, and cracked open Polar Peak. Since then, the two destroyed areas have been renovated, monstrous noises have been heard from Polar Peak, and some factory-like scaffolding have turned up inside the hollowed out volcano. More recently, a giant mech has been built in that volcano. Players have speculated that the end of Fortnite Season 9 will see that mech fight the monster under Polar Peak.
To fuel the fire of the giant fight, the official Fortnite Twitter account tweeted out an exciting announcement yesterday. “T-minus – 48 Hours till The Final Showdown. #FortniteEvent” with a robot emoji. That tweet was sent out on July 18th at 11:00 AM EST, so the “Final Showdown” will take place at the same time on Saturday, July 20th.

Fortnite’s storytelling almost always affects the island in a pretty major way. No doubt this battle will also do this in some way.
