Square Enix: The Final Fantasy 7 Remake Isn’t Coming to Xbox One

Square Enix Says There’s No Plans to Launch the Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Xbox One

A social media flub made by Xbox Germany’s Facebook account on Wednesday made gamers think that the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Remake would not only be releasing on Xbox One but would also come out on the same day as the PS4 version (which launches on March 3rd, 2020). The Facebook post that announced this was taken down some time after being put up.

The head of Xbox Germany’s social media team said that this was “an internal mistake” and that it wasn’t a real announcement. Square Enix further confirmed this in a recent statement.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake

“As previously announced, Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released for the PlayStation 4 on March 3rd 2020. We have no plans for other platforms,” the company told Video Games Chronicle. A press release for the remake’s big E3 2019 presentation reportedly made it seem as if the game was a timed PS4 exclusive but this recent Square Enix statement appears to have squashed any hopes of an Xbox One version.
