That’s The First One, Not The Sequel
Now to be fair, it’s not like the entire team is plugging away at this project. But still, why is Dying Light somehow getting more DLC? The sequel is a little ways off yet, but there’s already been so much free content released for the first game. The team just doesn’t feel like it’s enough just yet.
According to lead designer Tymon Smektala, this continued support of Dying Light is for two reasons. “The first is that we believe in our community, and we really believe they will be the most essential part for us getting the word out about Dying Light 2. The other thing is that supporting a game like Dying Light for such a long time allows us to be slightly more crazy, and slightly more creative with some things, and also test some ideas and gameplay elements that we’re not sure about.”
The first Dying Light has already seen 10 rounds of DLC at this point. Most other developers would have called it by now. But you have to admit, an older version is an attractive testing ground for crazy ideas. You can check out the first Dying Light on PC, PS4, and Xbox One if you want to see all this extra content for yourself. Dying Light 2 is set for release in Spring 2020.
